We build between 3 and 5 custom homes each year of all sizes, shapes, styles, and price ranges. We are also currently building a 30 unit condominium in Waterville. We are a full-service general contracting, design, and home-building company.
We will travel up to an hour and a half from our office in Benton,
to build your new home.
We are certified
R-2000 builders, and completed the first
R-2000 home in the United States in 1996. We provide excellent customer
service, with many hours of consultation before and during the
building process. You'd be hard-pressed to find another builder
as attentive to the job and to their customers as Design Concepts Company.

We concentrate on details, from the design and specifications, to waterproofing the
foundation, to blocking and nailers in the framing, to sealing air-leaks, to flashing
windows, to keeping a straight line on the roof drip edge, to keeping a clean jobsite,
to making sure the insulation is installed correctly, to touching up any little drywall
issue, to carefully color matching wood putty for nail holes, etc...
You'd be hard-pressed to find another builder as detail-oriented as
Design Concepts Company. Ask our references. 
We began by building
passive solar homes in the late 80's, and then in 1990, put more emphasis
on energy efficiency to compliment the solar design. Soon we
incorporated radiant floor heating and ventilation systems and began
thinking about the construction of our homes as a system. We pioneered
the construction of super-insulated homes and monolithic insulated slab
foundations through the 90's. Today, we are poised to provide our
customers with a wide range of construction systems and services.
We continue to develop new ideas and techniques, always staying on the
cutting-edge. We have always
focused on affordability, and our homes remain competitively priced.
We are Maine's original "Green" builder, and now that "Green"
ideas are becoming more popular, we are enjoying "coming into our own",
so to speak.
