Klipsch Shorthorns

I just bought this pair of SWO15 Klipsch Shorthorns.   I'm planning someday to do a thoughtful and accurate refinish of the woodwork and grills.  I'm not planning to sell these, they will stay in my collection.

These were from the "mono" era and were not sold as a pair.   They do have differences in the components.  Serial numbers 1030 and 1090, made sometime in 1959 or 1960.

What's nice about this pair is that the woodwork matches almost exactly.  I think with a little work they will be a near perfect pair.

Everything works great.  I can't wait to set them up in my living room corners and really listen to them.

Walnut oil.  The grills are in o.k. shape, but they don't match in color.

They do have some scratches, some deep, but I think I can sand everything out.  The tops are veneered, but the front frames appear to be solid walnut.

Each has a different emblem on the front.

I'm not sure this one is original.

Really interesting stuff on the labels.  I'd love to know what "Ortho" is referring to with these speakers.

Gotta have a plant pot stain!

This is SN1030, the earlier one.

I believe everthing inside is original.  The woofer on this one has a huge magnet and it's noticeably heavier than the other one.  Beautiful chrome finish.  The cone moves very freely on this driver, simply rocking the speaker cabinet makes the cone bounce around.

This was a great find.  So tell me, do you think PWK tested this one back in 1959?

Looks like a PW to me.
